Spoiler alert: It can be done. Now that most of us have gotten our Game of Thrones fix back, it’s time to talk Mother of Dragons. Well, really, what we want to talk about is her fiercely shiny, long platinum hair and how you can take steps to get her look! Since we first launched Olaplex in 2014, we’ve seen thousands of clients go platinum with breathtaking results and heartwarming testimonials. We can’t guarantee you’ll go platinum in one session as many have with Olaplex, but we can help with steps you should follow to get that healthy Khaleesi blonde!
For those that like easing into matters, a consultation is a great place to start. Some prep you can do to give your colorist a better idea of what they’re working with is to write down your hair history for the past 5 years. This means any color you’ve had in your hair from professional to at home color including glosses, permanent, semi-permanent, and bleach. Take note of any texture services your hair has gone through such as perms or relaxers. Lastly, give your colorist a good idea of what your usual hair routine is like, i..e., do you use a lot of heat styling tools at home? They will need to know everything to set your hair up for success!
Another excellent tip for the consultation is to book an OLAPLEX Stand-Alone Treatment the same day to get OLAPLEX’s premier bond building treatment on your hair already rebuilding bonds before you come in next time for the Khaleesi-fying. This is done in salon with Olaplex No.1 and 2 to rebuild your hair internally by linking broken disulfide bonds in the hair. You break these bonds every day whether it be from the environment, or thermal and mechanical styling, so be sure your hair gets an excellent head start before you go platinum. It is essential that in between appointments you also treat your hair with the OLAPLEX No.3 at home treatment. As OLAPLEX is non-toxic and entirely safe, it cannot be over-used, meaning the more treatments you can give your hair before this drastic change– the better! All these steps are giving you the most ideal canvas you could have for the lightening service. Meaning, your colorist is working on hair that is stronger, healthier, and more resilient than before. Transitioning to using OLAPLEX No.4 and No.5 Shampoo and Conditioner is another excellent way to get regular with a healthy hair routine at home. Both No.4 and No.5 contain OLAPLEX’s active patented ingredient, making the hair healthier and moisturized with each wash!
OLAPLEX No.3 is a treatment for you to use at home to rebuild your hair in between salon visits. Remember the ways we mentioned you break bonds every day? Use this at least once a week to help get your hair in tip-top shape before your lightening appointment. If your hair is compromised, use it up to 3x a week for maximum results. Don’t worry, we have an easy-to-follow guide on how to use No.3 here. Remember, your hair is going through a big change and needs extra love to stay healthy. No.3 will be your best friend after your service. Keep it by your side and use it in addition to your favorite conditioning and/or protein treatments.
Bring several reference photos to your colorist so you are both on the same page with what you want! It also helps to bring in a couple of photos of tones you do not like– you can never be too prepared for a transformative appointment like this, so the more the merrier! Lastly, be patient and trust in your colorist’s best judgment. These processes take time, but they’re worth it!
