Skincare for Haircare: Making Your Haircare Routine As Solid As Your Skincare Routine
This new year, OLAPLEX as skincare for your hair will be a thing. I love talking about my skincare routine as much as the next shelfie aficionado, but my hair routine is just as vital. I show my skin the intention of ritual in the morning and evening to address its concerns. I offer just as much care to my hair as I do my skin, and it always involves OLAPLEX!
Because hair is changeable, with growth occurring every day, we often neglect its daily needs. Consider the fact that hair is made out of the same material as skin. Though outwardly, they appear dissimilar, their needs internally and externally parallel. They both require cleansing, moisturizing, and reparative treatments to stay healthy. When there's a discrepancy, each reflects its reactions to dryness, oils, build up, and the weather.
I love the ritual of my morning and evening routine with OLAPLEX. Typically, every other morning, I'll do a conditioner rinse in between my once-weekly shampoo days. I condition with OLAPLEX N°.5 for simultaneous moisture, detangling, and bond-building. Afterward, I apply OLAPLEX N°.6 leave-in treatment cream and N°.7 Bonding Oil to keep my hair hydrated throughout the day. Like my skin, my hair is quite prone to dryness, so to avoid breakage, I ensure my AMs are all about moisture. If it's not washing or conditioner rinse day, I begin my hair routine by applying OLAPLEX N°.7 all over. I have thick, curly hair, but you can adjust as needed depending on your hair type and concerns.
Just like a weekly face mask, I apply an intensive OLAPLEX treatment to my hair at least once a week. I do so by priming my hair with OLAPLEX N°.0 Intensive Bond Building Treatment, allowing it to sit on the hair for ten minutes after the product is thoroughly saturated and combed through. After the ten minutes are up, I apply OLAPLEX N°.3 Hair Perfector directly on top of it and allow it to sit for a minimum of ten minutes. I always opt for an extended treatment of at least 1-3 hours. The longer, the better! I then shampoo out with OLAPLEX N°.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo and condition with OLAPLEX N°.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner. Typically, I feel my hair out and assess what kind of treatment it needs each week; if it's dry, I apply N°.5 as a conditioning mask, with some OLAPLEX N°.7 Bonding Oil just like I would a moisture mask.
In the evening, I apply a bit of N°.7 Bonding Oil onto my ends. They always dry out after a long day, mostly when I'm outdoors. Applying N°.7 is similar to using my nighttime creams on my face at night. I ensure that for the 8 hours I'm asleep, OLAPLEX is working to rebuild and hydrate my hair!
Another step I like to do on big days outdoors is to apply a layer of N°.7 throughout my hair as a shield against UV rays. This may sound like too much oil for any readers tuning in with fine hair. OLAPLEX is entirely customizable. The great thing is a little OLAPLEX goes a long way. Start with 1-2 drops and go from there as needed!
Treat your hair as you would your skin, and you'll have healthy hair all year round.
