Working Out with OLAPLEX
With health and fitness, I’m all about multitasking. I try to get the absolute most out of a 30-60 minute workout, which means I maximize it in any way possible. As it relates to my new year routine, that means my hair and body’s health must align. I’m on an ongoing OLAPLEX journey and incorporating a hair treatment while I get my butt kicked by a YouTube workout video takes my workout to the max.
I see this as double points and the most efficient use of my time. I’m building a more substantial body while OLAPLEX is rebuilding my hair to make it healthier. Incorporating OLAPLEX N°.0 and N°.3 gives me the most intensive at-home treatment with no fuss, while my intense workout has me begging for mercy. Here’s how I do it:
First thing in the morning, I work out, typically with an abs and lower body video. Before my workout, I dampen my hair with OLAPLEX N°.0, comb through, and let it sit for ten minutes while I set up my yoga mat, fill up my water bottle, and search YouTube for a fitness video. After the ten minutes have passed, I apply OLAPLEX N°.3 directly on top of OLAPLEX N°.0, combing through to ensure saturation all over. I put my hair into a high bun and use an elastic headband at my hairline to ensure the product doesn’t drip into my eyes. Alternatively, sometimes I put my hair into low braids, then an elastic headband.
Time to get my workout on! I do a warm-up, a workout, and a cooldown for about 30 minutes. After my routine finishes, I take a shower. I utilize my time in the shower by shampooing and conditioning out the treatment (with OLAPLEX N°.4 and N°.5, of course). If I have any extra time, I let OLAPLEX N°.5 conditioner sit on my hair for five minutes for extra moisture. That part is optional, but something I like to do with spare time and an overachieving sensibility.
You could stop after the shower, but I like to take my hair to the limit after washing, with OLAPLEX styling products. They take less than a minute to apply while my hair is wet and help my hair look fabulous all day. I use a generous amount of OLAPLEX N°.6 on my damp curly hair as a leave-in styling treatment. Then, I apply OLAPLEX N°.7 Bonding Oil all over my hair for shine, hydration, and UV protection. I’m always in the sun, which can be very drying, so I like to keep my hair coated in OLAPLEX N°.7 to ensure it’s protected against the sun while hydrating. It also protects against heat up to 450º Fahrenheit!
Whether your new year routine is going strong or you’re picking it back up again this month, I cannot recommend using OLAPLEX N°.0 and OLAPLEX N°.3 enough while you exercise. It’s the easiest way to maximize your time and the benefits of both your workout and treatment!
